Nest: A Harmonious Blend of Home and Workspace

Neogenesis+Studi0261 Design Studio's Award-Winning Commercial Interior

The Nest project, completed in 2018 in Surat, was designed for a unique set of professionals - advocates and architects. This unusual combination called for a design that could cater to varied hierarchical orders. The choice and detailing of elements aimed to keep the overall look grounded and earthy, reviving local artistry and building materials. The result is a workspace that feels more like a home, blurring the lines between work and life.

The design's unique properties lie in its blend and application of eco-friendly materials, the size of its openings, and its response to the local climate. These elements work together to create a comfortable environment that rekindles lost practices, forming a sustainable practice. The design also features a regular Kota stone foyer with interiorscaping, adding aesthetics to the space while creating a natural, pleasant environment.

The space is further enhanced by a large opening made by removing the north-east wall. This opening is combined with perforated GI sliding screens for security and vision. The palette consists of terrazzo flooring and lime plastered walls, which provide thermal comfort, reclaimed wood, and plants.

The Nest project is a testament to the design prowess of Neogenesis+Studi0261 Design Studio, a team comprising Ar. Devanshi Parekh and ID Rohan Khatri. Their innovative approach to commercial interior design has earned them the prestigious Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.
