Musen Spa: A Harmonious Blend of Art and Architecture

Chuanjin Sun's Award-Winning Design Combines Modernism with Natural Resonance

Located in a tranquil field, the Musen Spa is a unique blend of local culture and historical context, interpreted through the language of design. The walls of the service area are made of large wooden veneers, interwoven to create a three-dimensional, rough texture. The bar breaks from traditional bulky forms, with a delicate and soft arc that moves nimbly on the soft leather surface, complemented by copper wire drawing materials. This juxtaposition softens the space, creating an advanced ambiance under the quiet light.

The design's unique properties extend to the materials used. Warm wooden materials collide with the cold marble ground, creating a natural contrast. The screen of the gauze curtain softens the hardness of the burning stone, while the embedded metal partition cuts through the thick feeling of the mountain stone. Light-colored decorations, like spirits in the mountains, add a touch of whimsy to the space.

The Musen Spa covers a total of 1300 square meters, with a silk screen obscuring the spatial order and guiding visitors to interact in the open rest area. Scattered ball lights in the sky illuminate the inner expectations, reflected in the viewfinder frame against the backdrop of dead trees, making one forget the passage of time.

The design process was not without its challenges. The reception hall leads to the rest area, connected by a long winding cave passage covered with silk shamans to form an arched space. The cascading shamans, under the moderate light halo, highlight a flexible and soft atmosphere where light and shadow interweave, creating a yearning for light embrace.

Chuanjin Sun's Musen Spa is a testament to the power of design to create spaces that are not only visually stunning but also resonate with the spirit of their surroundings. This project, which started in April 2018 in Wuxi and finished in October 2018 in Wuxi, is a shining example of the designer's ability to combine modernism with natural elements to create a space that is truly unique.

The Musen Spa was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to its outstanding design and trendsetting creations. This award is granted to designs that reflect the designer's prodigy and wisdom, embodying extraordinary excellence and significantly impacting the world with their desirable characteristics.
