Shen Junwei's Vita Green Block B: A Shopping Center Transformed into an Illusive Forest

Winner of the Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020

Shen Junwei's Vita Green Block B is a shopping center that transcends traditional design, transforming into an illusive forest of light and shade. This innovative design, inspired by the natural world, has been recognized with the prestigious Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020.

Shen Junwei's design concept for Vita Green Block B is deeply rooted in the idea of an illusive forest. It's not just a shopping mall, but a place where sunlight enters the interior through stained glass windows from different directions, weaving a dazzling glow and warmth, as if the iridescent air is breathing life into the entire shopping mall. Visitors are immersed in an interactive experience of light and shade, where dreams start to shape.

What sets Vita Green Block B apart from other designs is its profound green gene. It aims to be an ecological and fashionable place where people feel like gathering and interacting with each other. The design hopes to influence the life circle beyond, bringing a lifestyle that is closer to nature. The interior design touches every visitor deeply with its illusive light and shade performance.

The shopping center, with a project area of 12,000 square meters, is divided into four scenarios: fallingwater square, forestry pathway, courtyard of light, starry night community. These divisions help visitors experience the interactive transparent space more at ease. The main materials used in the construction are brick, stone, and iron.

The project started in August 2016 and was completed in December 2019 in Zhengzhou. It is one block of the extended commercial system of the new city in the western part of Zhengzhou, located right next to Vita Green Block A. The designer's general concept was to differ Block B from Block A, transforming the architecture into a silver lining in life, where the past grows into the present, instead of copying the existing form.

The challenge faced by the designer was how to guide passenger flow with light and create a transparent space of illusive lighting experience. The hollow facade and skylight make full use of natural sunshine, building the architecture to be transparent and open, welcoming every visitor with an outstanding compatible status. The utilization of natural light also accords with the ecological.

Shen Junwei's Vita Green Block B is more than a shopping center; it's a social community where people connect. The design combines art and technology, forging a feast of light and shade like a quodis arcana in nature. A forestry and glamouring community thus comes into being. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2020, a testament to its outstanding expertise and innovation.
