SoTai 3c: A Symphony of Neoclassical and Scandinavian Design

Idan Chiang's Award-Winning Residential Design Marries Art, Music, and Functionality

The SoTai 3c project, based in Taiwan, was completed in March 2020. The design, spanning 152.7 sqm, includes three bedrooms, a master bath, a guest bath, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen, and a balcony. The design is characterized by warm white tones and creamy gray, presenting a moderate nobility that reflects the spirit of Denmark.

One of the unique features of this design is the integration of music into the space. The main wall of the living room, adorned with a pure white piano, is decorated with a large area of precious amethyst white jade marble wall. This replaces the traditional neoclassical design of linear panels, adding a touch of elegance and sophistication to the room.

Another distinctive aspect of the design is the guest bathroom, inspired by the image design of the fragrance brand Jo Malone. The black and white interlocking lines with stylized line panels and hardware make the space and products consistent, turning the bathroom into an artwork in itself.

The design also takes into account the clients' living habits and needs. The corridor leading from the living dining area to the bedroom is designed with a hidden door separating the public area from the private area. The living dining area extends to the open center island kitchen, allowing the hostess to receive guests while in the kitchen.

Chiang's design style is based on neoclassical architecture, injecting music and childlike elements into the space, and combining artworks to present a living space with both taste and style. The space is dominated by creamy gray, integrating different brand furniture in the space, and enhancing the overall coordination through fabric selection and matching.

The design of SoTai 3c is a testament to Chiang's ability to blend different design elements and create a space that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. This project is a perfect example of how art, music, and design can come together to create a living space that is truly unique and inspiring.
