ONE-CU Interior Design Lab's Award-Winning Project: Xi'an Vanke Pleasant Mansion

Exploring the Intersection of Tradition and Modernity in Spatial Design

In the heart of Xi'an, China, a unique architectural masterpiece stands as a testament to the innovative approach of ONE-CU Interior Design Lab. The Xi'an Vanke Pleasant Mansion, a sales center that doubles as a cultural exhibition hall, is a harmonious blend of tradition and modernity, a testament to the team's ability to create spaces that tell a story.

The design of the Xi'an Vanke Pleasant Mansion is not defined by a particular style. Instead, the design team approached it as a "preposition", focusing on the relationship between the interior and exterior, the interaction between space function and the user's actions, and the orderly hierarchy formed by composition and material. This approach resulted in a unique design that stands out for its simplicity, warmth, and natural elements.

ONE-CU Interior Design Lab adopted the concept of a stroll-in-the-park to connect the spaces within the building. Geometric blocks of various materials intersect and stand within the spaces, creating openings of different heights and sizes. This interplay of light and shadow creates an interactive partition between the real and the virtual, providing a unique spatial experience for the visitors.

The design team utilized a range of materials including stone, art glass, wood veneer, hand-made bronze, and paper to construct the space. The simplicity of these materials allowed the natural elements of light, shadow, and color to take center stage, creating a serene and tranquil environment that encourages visitors to stay longer.

The Xi'an Vanke Pleasant Mansion is a three-story building, with each floor serving a different purpose. The first floor serves as the reception area and the cultural exhibition hall, the second floor accommodates negotiation spaces and project display spaces, and the third and fourth floors house three different types of show flats. The building is surrounded by an inner courtyard filled with towering trees, a waterscape, and a glass-enclosed building that reflect each other, further enhancing the sense of tranquility.

The project, which started in April 2020 and was completed in August 2020, is a reflection of the local culture and represents a dialogue about tradition, modernity, and the future. It is a testament to ONE-CU Interior Design Lab's ability to explore new possibilities in spatial arrangement and their commitment to creating spaces that tell a story. The project was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021, a testament to its outstanding design and innovation.
