Camera Vista: Revolutionizing Supermarket Inventory Tracking

Introducing the Camera Vista: A Game-Changing Inventory Tracker

The Camera Vista, designed by Tobia Repossi, is a cutting-edge device that is set to transform inventory tracking in supermarkets. Inspired by the iconic helmet of Stormtroopers from Star Wars, this innovative tool is poised to revolutionize the way retailers monitor their shelves and coolers.

The Camera Vista is not your ordinary security camera. It is specifically designed for shelf or fridge mounting in supermarkets, providing real-time data on out-of-stock items, planogram non-compliance, foreign product contamination, and pricing inaccuracies. This invaluable information allows retailers to optimize their inventory management and make data-driven decisions to improve customer satisfaction and boost sales.

One of the key strengths of the Camera Vista is its adaptability to different environments. The device features two cameras that can be positioned during assembly to provide different angles of vision, catering to various distances and mountings. This flexibility ensures accurate and comprehensive monitoring, regardless of the store layout.

The Camera Vista is made using state-of-the-art technology. It is crafted from injection-molded ABS in seven interconnected pieces, ensuring durability and longevity. Powered by two AA batteries, the device incorporates a PCB and two high-quality cameras to capture detailed footage.

Measuring at 170 x 32 x 50 mm, the Camera Vista comes in a recyclable cardboard package, aligning with its eco-conscious design philosophy. The compact size and easy installation make it a hassle-free addition to any supermarket.

The development of the Camera Vista was a collaborative effort between Tobia Repossi and Nicolò Castagnini. The project took six months from brief to distribution, with the design being developed in Italy, the PCB design in India, and production and assembly taking place in China. This global collaboration showcases the power of technology in connecting designers and manufacturers across continents.

The design process for the Camera Vista was driven by extensive research and innovation. Utilizing Onshape, a cloud-based CAD modeling platform, the team streamlined communication and minimized the need for external emails and messages. This efficient approach allowed for quick development and seamless collaboration.

The Camera Vista presented several challenges that the design team successfully overcame. The compact size of the device required careful consideration to fit the PCB and two cameras within the casing. Additionally, the interior set of adjustable gears enables the rotation of the camera angle during assembly, accommodating different positioning requirements. These design solutions not only saved production and stock costs but also enhanced the overall functionality of the Camera Vista.

Recognized for its exceptional design and practicality, the Camera Vista has been awarded the prestigious Iron A' Design Award in the Wholesale, Retail Trade, Commerce, and E-Commerce Design category in 2022. This accolade acknowledges the device's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements while integrating industry best practices and innovative features.

The Camera Vista is set to transform the way supermarkets manage their inventory. With its advanced features, adaptability, and real-time data insights, this revolutionary device is a game-changer for the retail industry.
