Dualad stands out from other multimedia kiosks with its sculptural shape and warm texture. The carefully crafted device appears thinner than it actually is, seamlessly blending into various architectural environments. Its housing is made of durable solid surface acrylic material, ensuring longevity and easy repairability in case of minor damage.
One of the key design considerations was accessibility. Dualad was ergonomically designed to provide easy touchscreen access for wheelchair users, making it inclusive for people with disabilities. This commitment to inclusivity sets Dualad apart from other multimedia kiosks in the market.
Not only does Dualad excel in design and accessibility, but it also offers a unique user experience. The kiosk consists of two parts: an advertising kiosk with a 55-inch presentation screen and a wayfinder kiosk with a 27-inch ten-point capacitive touch screen. The advertising screen showcases scheduled content, while the touch screen serves as an interactive information point with a navigation system and customer relationship management features.
The technology behind Dualad is top-notch. The device utilizes best-in-class 10-point multi-touch screens, ensuring fast and responsive interactions. The choice of materials, including the acrylic solid surface cover, not only enhances the kiosk's sustainability but also provides antibacterial properties and a soft touch for users.
The development of Dualad began in March 2022 with a simple sketch on paper, driven by the needs of a commercial gallery operator in Poland. Over the course of four months, the design was refined and prototyped. Since then, Dualad has been successfully implemented in three major shopping malls in Poland.
The design process for Dualad involved extensive research and testing. The dimensions of the kiosk were carefully analyzed to ensure ergonomic use and a delightful customer experience. User testing included individuals of various age groups, including wheelchair users, to ensure the touchscreen's usability for interactive maps.
One of the challenges faced during the design process was convincing the customer that a smaller touchscreen size would provide a better user experience. Through a test and learn approach, the team was able to reduce the touchscreen size from 43 inches to 27 inches, resulting in improved ergonomics and image perception. The final product exceeded the customer's initial expectations.
The Dualad multimedia kiosk has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Wholesale, Retail Trade, Commerce, and E-Commerce Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges the innovative and resourceful nature of the design, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology.
Dualad is a testament to the power of combining modern design with new technology. Its unique properties, sustainability, and user-centric approach make it a standout choice for commercial galleries, retail outlets, public spaces, and museums.
