YY Sports: A Post-Human Fitness Club

Introducing a Unique Blend of Technology and Design

The YY Sports project is situated on the top floor of a sports shop in Shenyang, the largest city in northern China. This prime location in the heart of a bustling commercial street adds to the allure of the fitness club. YY Sports is part of a larger sportswear enterprise that integrates production, processing, wholesale, and retail, making it a prominent player in the industry.

What sets YY Sports apart is its unique design and realization technology. The club features a combination of materials such as stainless steel, glass, artificial wood, fire flame retardant cloth, fire flame retardant rock cotton, immersive LED screens, and terrazzo. This blend of materials creates a visually stunning and immersive environment for members.

With a total area of 2000 square meters, YY Sports offers a spacious and dynamic space for fitness enthusiasts. The design team, consisting of Arthur Yang, Ye Yang, and Xin An Zhou, meticulously investigated the site and utilized computer 3D modeling to ensure the practical operability of the design space.

One of the main challenges faced during the design process was creating realistic post-human figures using technology. Through extensive 3D modeling and printing, the team successfully brought these artificial beings to life, adding an element of intrigue and imagination to the gym.

The YY Sports project was realized between February 2021 and May 2021 in Shenyang, China. Its unique blend of technology, design, and post-human aesthetics has garnered recognition and acclaim. In 2022, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award celebrates designs that showcase creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
