Landscape Planning Design

Inspired by Emerald Necklaces, Jwp Design Studio takes advantage of the existing site's four water ponds, which are like pearls on a necklace, to evolve into four sub-zones based on the themes of scientific and technological innovation, light and shadow effects, art and culture, and health life.

On top of the parks densely covered and surrounded by nature, the Taiping Green Corridor continues this poetic nature and integrates the green open space design according to local conditions to create Taiping's "Emerald Necklace" and update the future urban park-like lifestyle. The park is an ideal place with rich culture and relaxation, where one can feel the natural nature of returning to the original, have close dialogue with the mountains and rivers, coexist with nature, and resonate with the soul.

The design of the Taiping New City Poetic Emerald Corridor involves landscape planning design, landscape accessories, sculpture, slow-moving system design, water supply and drainage design related to the surrounding landscape, lighting engineering design, and necessary geological survey work for landscape design.

The project covers a landscape area of about 156.42 hectares, with a design range that is belt-shaped and about 5.5 kilometers long. It serves as an important public recreation park, green open space, and service sharing link in the south of Taiping New City.

The design of the Taiping New City Poetic Emerald Corridor involves coordinating various special design interfaces, controlling the progress and quality of the landscape project, and providing a full set of results data. It also includes follow-up services and results review, construction drawing review, green stamp approval, lightning protection review, civil air defense review, fire protection review, expert consultation, data collection, and more.

The project started in August 2020 and is located in Anning, Kunming, Yunnan, China.

The design of the Taiping New City Poetic Emerald Corridor is based on research for leisure and recreation by adjacent residents and office workers. It takes into account the traffic needs of surrounding projects and focuses on building a public space system combining points, lines, and planes. The design includes the park's theme function positioning, general layout, landscape feature creation, service facilities, transportation organization, and various support systems.

The design of the Taiping New City Poetic Emerald Corridor overcame challenges such as handling the functional layout relationship with the surrounding projects, organizing diversified traffic, utilizing existing terrain and water system resources, building people-oriented activity venues, and focusing on safety and resilience park design.

The design preserves the local landscape characteristics while adapting to the road network planning. The east to west green corridors shape the rolling hills landscape, and the north to south green corridors shape the meandering valley landscape. The design rebuilds a system of constructed wetlands, lakes, and ecological grass streams, reshaping the base water landscape while emphasizing natural accumulation, infiltration, and purification. It creates a continuous green pathway to connect the east to west and a suburban park sharing zone with beautiful scenery.

This design was awarded Bronze in A' Landscape Planning and Garden Design Award in 2022. The A' Design Award recognizes outstanding and creatively ingenious designs that authenticate experience and resourcefulness. Esteemed for incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology, they exhibit strong technical and creative skills and contribute to quality of life improvements, making the world a better place.
