Golden Spikes: A Majestic Reception Center Show House

An Extraordinary Design by Jing Yuan Lu

The Golden Spikes project on the 35th floor in Banqiao stands as a landmark building in the area. Designed by Jing Yuan Lu, the reception center takes on the form of a stage, with the project as the main character and visitors as participants in a fabulous performance. Through the use of arc elements and various materials, the design team has created a theater-like appearance, focusing attention on the center stage and conveying a feeling of majesty and extraordinary tension.

The Golden Spikes reception center show house stands out from others with its unique features and strengths. The beveled facade door not only avoids western exposure but also presents subtle gradations of light and shade throughout the day, creating an extraordinary ambiance. The design team has also eliminated the feeling of declining ceilings by layering grilles. The transparent grille, substantial grille, and metal curtain layers not only provide a sense of depth but also serve as a stage curtain, with the sales area hidden behind.

The realization of the Golden Spikes design showcases the high-rise characteristics of the project. The housing model takes center stage, with an oval dark stainless-steel panel ceiling and chandeliers resembling stars in the sky, allowing visitors to feel as if they can touch the starry night. To further enhance the visitor experience, the design team has created a route to the second floor, providing a 360-degree view of the project.

The Golden Spikes project encompasses a reception center and three showhouses, with a total size of 727 square meters. The reception center includes areas for project introduction, reception, sales, and a VIP reading room. The show houses on the ground floor measure 79 square meters, while those on the second floor are 56 and 95 square meters respectively.

With keywords such as reception center, sample house, theater, stage, play, and imported materials, the Golden Spikes design truly captures the essence of art, architecture, and innovation. The design team, led by Jing Yuan Lu and Jiun-Ying Liou, has created a space that not only showcases the project but also provides a unique and immersive experience for visitors.

The Golden Spikes design challenges the boundaries between visitors and the stage, breaking free from traditional design constraints. The use of arc elements symbolizes the curtain of a theater, outlining an exciting play. The theater-style reception center features three breakthroughs: breaking the shackles of design, using a spiral staircase to connect visitors and the stage, and utilizing the theater opening to connect the reception center, show houses, and commercial spaces.

Recognizing the complexity of the design, the design team overcame challenges in construction. The irregular shape of the arcs required meticulous planning and adjustments to ensure a perfect fit. The design of the spiral staircase also underwent multiple modifications to achieve a flawless stage-like structure.

As visitors follow the spiral staircase, they are transported to the center of the stage, evoking curiosity and anticipation. The circular curtains and retractable metal curtains bring the space to life, while the oval stainless steel corrugated panels create a mesmerizing starry night sky. Walking into the show houses, visitors are treated to different themes and experiences, further enhancing the immersive journey.

The Golden Spikes design, completed in July 2021 in Taiwan, is a testament to the meticulous research and creativity of the design team. By presenting the project as a theater, the design team has created a unique and captivating experience for visitors, combining art, architecture, and innovation in a harmonious blend. The Golden Spikes design is a true masterpiece by Jing Yuan Lu and is a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award in 2022, recognized for its practicality, innovation, and contribution to a better world.
