Forte Forte Roma: A Timeless Blend of Art and Design

A Retail Design Masterpiece by Robert Vattilana

The eternal city of Rome has always been a source of inspiration for designers, with its rich history and architectural wonders. In the heart of Campo Marzio, a neighborhood known for its artistic heritage, the Forte Forte boutique stands as a testament to the harmonious blend of art, design, and history. Designed by the talented Robert Vattilana, this retail space is a true masterpiece that showcases the beauty of green onyx and pays homage to the city's unique character.

Located at number 4c in via Borgognona, the Forte Forte Roma boutique is a celebration of contrasts. The design narrative revolves around the idea of juxtaposing powerful and present materials with pure forms, creating a space that is both airy and solid. The boutique is a vibrant monolith of green onyx, a precious material with a unique design that encapsulates a thousand-year history. This choice of material reflects the designer's intention to renounce the redundancy of the city's iconic travertine and instead create a sense of awe and wonder.

The execution of the project was a meticulous process that involved skilled craftsmen who assembled and modeled unique pieces. The attention to detail and respect for the location are evident in every aspect of the design. The green onyx, treated in large symmetrical blocks, dematerializes in contact with light, creating a nuanced transparency that immerses visitors in a mesmerizing experience. From the floors to the walls, the entire space is engulfed in the captivating beauty of this stone.

The boutique's interior is a play of light and shadow, with panels of polished brass folded in on themselves and anchored by brass stitching forming the back wall. The ceilings, initially white with inclined and dynamic bands, open up in a geometric composition of luminous portholes. The dressing rooms, closed by brass hinged doors and opened by portholes, are a mysterious presence that reveals feminine, boudoir-like interiors in sage-colored capitonné velvet.

The Forte Forte Roma boutique is not just a retail space; it is a work of art that reflects the essence of the eternal city. The design team, led by Robert Vattilana and Giada Forte, has created a space that exudes a sense of gentle power and timeless lightness. The attention to detail, the use of unique materials, and the seamless integration of art and design make this boutique a true masterpiece.

The Forte Forte Roma project was not without its challenges. The concept itself required a complete custom-made and artisanal approach, taking into consideration the historic building's protection by the city's superintendence of fine arts. Working with the green onyx, treated in large symmetrical blocks, required precise measurements and careful planning. However, with the expertise of a skilled artisanal team, these challenges were overcome, resulting in a space that is both visually stunning and functional.

The opening of the Forte Forte Roma boutique marks a new chapter in the creative journey of Robert Vattilana and Giada Forte. Their unique design language, characterized by extreme synthesis and a desire for intimate permanence, has found its expression in this retail space. The Forte Forte Roma boutique is a testament to the power of design to create immersive experiences and evoke emotions.

As a winner of the prestigious A' Design Award in 2022, the Forte Forte Roma boutique has been recognized for its well-designed, practical, and innovative approach. This award acknowledges the seamless integration of professional and industrial requirements, resulting in a space that contributes to a better world.

Step into the Forte Forte Roma boutique and immerse yourself in a world where art, design, and history intertwine to create a truly unforgettable experience.
