Bringing the Elements of Water and Light to Life

The design of Dewy Glow revolves around the concept of water and light. Water, known for its nourishing properties, combines with light to create a vibrant and refreshing atmosphere. The design team utilized light colors to mimic the crystal-clear imagery of water, while incorporating mirrors, silver metal, and stone patterns to enhance the brightness of the space. The corridor ceiling, adorned with a water ripple pattern, adds a dynamic element of light and shadow, seamlessly integrating natural elements into the clinic.

One of the standout features of Dewy Glow is the aisle, designed as a stainless-steel panel arch embedded with indirect lighting. Throughout the day, the silver color of the panels interacts with the lighting, creating mesmerizing light and shadow transformations. The glass facade and wall decorations also pay homage to the theme of water ripples. Transparent glass with ripple patterns divides the space, allowing natural light to filter through and adding a decorative touch. The wall decorations, created using a special technique, mimic water ripples, giving the space a fluid and dynamic effect.

The realization of Dewy Glow involved the use of various building materials such as wall cloth, mineral paint, stainless steel corrugated panels, water ripple patterned glass, wood veneer, melamine, and artificial stone. The operating room, constructed with artificial stone, minimizes joints and ensures a surface that is resistant to scratches, water, and high temperatures, meeting medical compliance standards. Mineral paint is used throughout the space, while zero-formaldehyde veneer is employed for ceilings, aisles, and cabinets.

Spanning across 148.7 square meters, Dewy Glow is divided into several areas, including a reception area, a product experience area, a doctor's room, two operating rooms, two restrooms, and a VIP lounge. The entrance is marked by arch-shaped light stripes, leading visitors through a corridor with a stainless-steel corrugated ceiling that creates a play of light and shadow. The open-plan layout of the reception and product experience areas allows customers to freely explore and engage with the space.

The design of Dewy Glow not only focuses on aesthetics but also on functionality. Reflective mirrors are strategically placed to create an elongation effect, making the space appear taller and wider. Large windows in the reception area flood the space with natural light, offering a panoramic view of Taipei 101. The stone-shaped chairs, inspired by natural elements, provide a sense of relaxation and alleviate the tension and pressure often associated with waiting. The restrooms, designed in dark colors, evoke the darkness of nature, creating a unique contrast within the clinic.

Dewy Glow was completed in March 2022 in Taiwan. The design team conducted extensive research to ensure that each area served its intended purpose while adhering to the theme of nature. The emphasis on water ripples, achieved through the use of light colors and lines, creates a harmonious and soothing environment. The stainless-steel aisle with a water-ripple patterned ceiling embodies the concept of photosynthesis, where water and light intertwine to create ever-changing light and shadow patterns.

Overcoming the creative and technical challenges posed by the concept of water and light, the design team successfully struck a balance between complexity and simplicity. The design of Dewy Glow showcases the transformative power of light and shadow, eliminating the cold and rigid impression often associated with clinics. By blurring the boundaries between indoors and outdoors, the space creates a seamless integration with nature, providing visitors with a sense of ease and tranquility.

Dewy Glow was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life. The design of Dewy Glow exemplifies these qualities, incorporating best practices in art, science, design, and technology to create a space that truly enhances the well-being of its visitors.
