Balance: A Family-Oriented Residence by Hsin-Pei Chiang

An Understated Luxury Design that Prioritizes Comfort and Space

The Balance residence, designed by Hsin-Pei Chiang, is a testament to the importance of family and the need for a comfortable living space. With a focus on creating a spacious and inviting environment, this design showcases an understated luxury style that exudes elegance without being extravagant.

The centerpiece of the design is the TV wall, which is made of marble to create a grand sense of luxury. The cabinets on both sides of the TV wall are designed in an irregular shape, adding a lively touch to the overall aesthetic. The doors of these cabinets are cleverly designed as roller blinds, resembling speakers and providing storage and heat dissipation for appliances. This unique combination of materials and design elements creates a visually stunning focal point in the living room.

Opposite the TV wall, the wall behind the sofa serves a dual purpose. On one hand, it provides a display function, allowing the homeowners to showcase their favorite artwork or decorative items. On the other hand, it conceals the doors to the master bedroom, the second bedroom, and the rear balcony. This combination of bedroom doors and cabinet doors not only adds to the aesthetic appeal of the space but also ensures privacy for the homeowners.

The design team utilized a variety of building materials to bring this design to life. From roller blinds and laminate flooring to glass, marble, and wood veneer, each material was carefully chosen to enhance the overall look and feel of the space. The dining table, for example, is made of thick tiles that have a low water absorption rate, ensuring durability and easy maintenance.

With a total area of 102.4 square meters, the Balance residence originally had three bedrooms, a living room, and a dining room. However, the design team decided to remove the seldom-used room partitions and expand the living room, kitchen, and other public areas to create a more comfortable and spacious environment. This thoughtful consideration of the client's needs resulted in a design that prioritizes functionality and usability.

The Balance residence is a perfect example of how design can enhance the quality of life. The semi-open design of the kitchen sliding door allows the wife to interact with other family members while cooking, creating a warm and cozy atmosphere. The enlarged living room can accommodate more visitors, making the space perfect for hosting gatherings and creating lasting memories.

Completed in August 2018 in Taiwan, the Balance residence is a testament to the meticulous research and attention to detail that went into its creation. The design team translated the client's desire for a spacious and inviting public area into a reality, providing a comfortable space for the family to enjoy. The integration of storage, display, and concealed doors behind the sofa was a creative solution to the challenge of hiding the bedroom doors from view.

The Balance residence has been recognized for its outstanding design and has been awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is a testament to the design's practicality, innovation, and ability to meet professional and industrial requirements.

With its emphasis on family, comfort, and understated luxury, the Balance residence by Hsin-Pei Chiang is a true masterpiece. From the grandeur of the marble TV wall to the thoughtful integration of storage and display, every aspect of this design showcases the designer's commitment to creating a space that brings joy and fulfillment to its inhabitants.
