Inspiration Season: A Dynamic Poster Design

Connecting the Past and Present through Wool

The inspiration for Inspiration Season came from the idea of connecting the past and present of Hangzhou Loft49. The designers photographed the actual space where wool was hanging and then processed the images to create a static poster. The blue wool represents the factory's past, while the dynamic elements emphasize the three-dimensional nature of the space composed of wool. The shaking of the wool in the design represents the moment of inspiration.

What sets Inspiration Season apart is its connection to the history of Hangzhou Loft49. As the first large-scale design forum activity held in the park, this design pays homage to the transformation of the old factory into a creative hub. The use of wool as a design element symbolizes the connection between the past and present, creating a unique and meaningful visual representation.

The realization of Inspiration Season involved a combination of photography and graphic design. The designers used Blackmagic cameras and slide rails to capture the footage in 4K vertical screen format. Post-processing, including image editing, color matching, and composition challenges, was then carried out. The final result is a static poster and a dynamic motion poster that seamlessly blend moving images with graphic design.

The interaction with Inspiration Season is captivating. The design begins with the rotation of several lines, which then transform into a flat poster in a sudden jerk. As viewers engage with the design, they are taken on a visual journey that includes the blue wool, a sense of space, and a final reveal of the content. This flow allows visitors to understand the meaning of the design and generate their own associations and inspiration.

Inspiration Season was created in Hangzhou, China, in August 2022. The design project aimed to explore the fusion of static content with dynamic images, breaking through the boundaries of traditional graphic design. The positive feedback received from the design forum sparked a new possibility for dynamic graphic design and triggered further thinking about the relationship between graphic design and dynamic images.

The challenges faced during the creation of Inspiration Season centered around incorporating a sense of graphic design into the dynamic footage. By successfully merging film and graphic design, the designers were able to create a visually striking and conceptually rich design.

For its exceptional creativity and ingenuity, Inspiration Season was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2023. This prestigious award recognizes designs that demonstrate outstanding technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
