Fight Aids: A HIV Campaign by Shadi Al Hroub

Designing for a Better Future

HIV is surrounded by a lot of rumors and misinformation. Hundreds of teens in the Global become infected with HIV every year through unprotected sex or needle sharing. A much smaller number of teens with HIV were born to mothers who were infected. Today, there is hope that people living with HIV may never even become sick, thanks to new medications and medical tests. However, there is still no cure for the virus — just like there's no cure for viruses like colds and the flu. People living with the virus have to be extra careful not to take risks (like having unprotected sex) that could expose others to HIV.

Shadi Al Hroub, a renowned designer, has created a powerful HIV campaign called "Fight Aids" that aims to raise awareness and educate the public about the realities of living with HIV. The campaign seeks to dispel myths and misconceptions surrounding the virus, while promoting safe practices and empathy towards those affected.

The unique strength of the "Fight Aids" campaign lies in its ability to communicate complex information in a visually compelling and easily understandable manner. Using digital art as the medium, Shadi Al Hroub has created a series of posters that convey important messages about HIV prevention, treatment, and support.

The posters, designed using Adobe Creative Suite, feature bold typography, striking visuals, and thought-provoking imagery. Each poster is meticulously crafted to capture the attention of the viewer and evoke an emotional response. The use of vibrant colors and powerful symbolism further enhances the impact of the campaign.

The "Fight Aids" campaign was realized through a collaboration between Shadi Al Hroub and the American University of Madaba. The posters were exhibited on the university campus in Jordan, reaching a wide audience and sparking conversations about HIV awareness and prevention.

Shadi Al Hroub's "Fight Aids" campaign has received widespread recognition and acclaim. In 2014, it was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in the Social Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate excellence in both aesthetics and functionality, while also making a positive contribution to society.

Through his innovative and impactful design, Shadi Al Hroub has succeeded in creating a campaign that not only educates and raises awareness about HIV, but also inspires individuals to take action and make a difference. The "Fight Aids" campaign serves as a reminder that together, we can combat the stigma and misconceptions surrounding HIV, and work towards a better future for all.
