Secret Garden: A High-End Tea House Designed by Kris Lin

An Oasis of Relaxation and Elegance

The Secret Garden, designed by Kris Lin, is a high-end tea house that offers social elites a place of relaxation, gathering, communication, and business negotiation. Inspired by the rich tradition of tea drinking in Chinese culture, this tea house creates a serene and elegant environment for tea enthusiasts.

The interior design of the Secret Garden is reminiscent of an oriental garden, with pavilions, bridges, pools, timber tunnels, and trees. The tea house adopts a membership system that guarantees the privacy of customers, making it a truly exclusive and intimate space.

The highlight of the design is the water system that runs through the tea house. Pools are scattered on the first and second floors, forming a beautiful and calming water landscape. A bridge connects the pools in different areas, creating a seamless flow throughout the space. Trees grow out of the pools, adding a touch of nature to the interior.

The VIP area is a pavilion floating on the surface of the water. Four different styles of pavilions are designed on the surface of the pool water, providing a unique and luxurious experience for the guests.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was the complex flow lines in one corridor space, which also had many entrances and exits. To overcome this, the concept of a timber tunnel was adopted, combining all the entrances and exits and forming an integral tunnel space. This transformed what was initially a design flaw into a highlighted feature of the space.

The Secret Garden spans an area of 1800 square meters and is located in Changzhou, China. The project was completed between August 2013 and December 2013, showcasing the meticulous attention to detail and craftsmanship that went into its creation.

With its unique blend of traditional Chinese elements and contemporary design, the Secret Garden is a testament to the enduring allure of tea culture. It provides a haven for tea lovers to immerse themselves in an atmosphere of tranquility and refinement.
