Urska Petric, a renowned designer, has created the Nomadka, a revolutionary multifunctional bag that caters to the needs of versatile, creative, and adept individuals. This bag seamlessly combines ease of use, resilient material, protection from the unexpected, and aesthetic perfection. With its ability to transform from a bag to a backpack, the Nomadka is the ultimate accessory for active and spontaneous people.
The Nomadka stands out from other bags due to its unique properties and strengths. It successfully combines usefulness with durable material, protection from the unexpected, and aesthetic completeness. The bag is made from coated linen, making it light, comfortable, and water-resistant. Its design ensures that it can adapt to the needs of its owner in any situation, making it the perfect companion for any activity or weather condition.
Urska Petric prioritized the use of natural materials in the creation of the Nomadka. The body of the bag is made from linen, while the straps are crafted from strong cotton. The bag's special coating provides water and dirt resistance, ensuring its durability. The design intentionally avoids the use of metal or plastic parts, resulting in a clean and minimalist aesthetic. Each bag is meticulously handcrafted, featuring an embroidered logo and maintenance instructions. The Nomadka is available in several color options to suit individual preferences.
The technical specifications of the Nomadka are as follows: it has a height of 60cm, a width of 43cm, and a depth of 18cm. The handle range is adjustable, ranging from 10cm to 30cm. The bag also comes with a compact package, measuring 19cm x 22cm x 7cm.
Interacting with the Nomadka is effortless. By pulling the straps on top of the bag, it can be used as a handbag or shoulder bag. Rolling it down and pulling the straps in the back transforms it into a backpack. The volume of the bag easily adapts to the user's needs. The bag features an outside pocket that keeps essentials within arm's reach, while the interior includes a handy pocket for smaller valuables such as keys and wallets.
The Nomadka project began in late 2012 when Urska Petric created the first prototype for a local design exhibition. The positive response prompted further product development and market research, which lasted for a year. In 2014, the finished product was made available for retail.
Extensive research underpinned the creation of the Nomadka. Urska Petric conducted thorough internet research to ensure the technical solution was unique and original. The solution was subsequently patented. Determining the universal bag size was another challenge, as sustainability solutions are only useful if they can be applied to the general public. Urska Petric researched the average size of people and calculated the right dimensions. The first prototype was created using an old jute potato sack, which served as a good platform for testing. Inspired by its texture and waterproof plastic coating, Urska Petric found the perfect material solution - linen with a water-resistant coating. Coupled with strong cotton straps, the Nomadka was ready for market research.
The design process for the Nomadka presented various challenges. Urska Petric aimed to design a product that could satisfy a wide range of customer needs while maintaining a clean and timeless aesthetic. The avoidance of unnecessary clips and metal parts was crucial to emphasize the importance of clean design, making the task far from simple yet satisfying.
The Nomadka is a testament to Urska Petric's commitment to creating a bag that suits its owner in all aspects. Its sturdy composition, practical solutions, and aesthetic appeal make it a standout accessory. The bag's water-resistant linen and strong cotton straps, coupled with its ability to transform from a bag to a backpack, cater to the needs of individuals with diverse lifestyles. With its simple yet sustainable design, the Nomadka is the perfect companion for everyday activities, from morning coffee runs to quick grocery stops, and even outdoor adventures.
The Nomadka has received numerous accolades, including the prestigious Silver A' Design Award in the Fashion and Travel Accessories Design category in 2015. This award recognizes the outstanding expertise, innovation, and artistic skill demonstrated by the Nomadka, as well as its ability to evoke positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
