The logo showcases a rational use of negative space, creating a logic and organic visual solution that perfectly represents a premium tea brand.
The unique feature of this design lies in its integration of a teapot and a teacup into one logo using negative space. This technique adds an abstract and profound feeling to the logo, reflecting the values of the premium tea produced from aged trees on remote highlands of Vietnam.
The realization of this design involved the innovative use of negative space, which had not been explored in this line of tea products before. By combining the teapot and teacup, the logo symbolizes the spiritual and soulful aspects of Asian tea drinking traditions. This technique enhances the overall experience and portrays the value of the premium tea gathered from the most aged trees on remote highlands.
The ThuongTra Tea Brand Logo was designed in collaboration with the tea production process. The designer spent a significant amount of time studying the product, its story, and the production to capture the essence and core values of Vietnamese tea. This thorough research and understanding of the product allowed the designer to create a logo that truly represents the spirit of ThuongTra.
The design project took place in 2014 in the tea highlands of Vietnam. The designer faced challenges in convincing tea brand owners to embrace innovative logo designs and brand research activities. The conservative nature of the industry made it difficult to introduce a thoughtful logo for premium products. However, the designer persevered and successfully persuaded the sponsor of the importance of a well-designed logo that reflects the excellence and worth of the tea.
The ThuongTra Tea Brand Logo sets a new standard for tea logos in the local market. Unlike the small pictures with wordmarks commonly seen, this logo embodies a logical and organic visual solution. By deconstructing the product images and applying optical rules in a rational way, the logo effortlessly evokes the essence of a premium tea brand produced thoughtfully from the most aged trees on remote highlands of Vietnam.
This design was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2015 in the category of Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design. The award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements.
