Visual Identity

Fattoria il Gambero, a winery with a rich history dating back to 1880, has successfully positioned itself in the market with a blend of contemporary and traditional elements. The winery's visual identity, designed by Laura Ferrario, reflects this balance by incorporating innovative design elements while paying homage to its heritage.

The inspiration for the design came from a stylized "G" logo, which symbolizes a corkscrew uncorking a bottle and resembles the road leading to the winery. The sans serif font used in the logo adds solidity to the abstract symbol, connecting the winery's past to its present. The choice of burgundy color for the logo represents the full-bodied red wines produced by the winery, such as the renowned Pinot Nero.

The visual identity extends to the wine labels, where the "G" symbol is used as a graphic sign. For younger wines, the labels feature clear designs with vibrant colors, while for the winery's premium wines, the labels have a darker and more sophisticated appearance. This color scheme reflects the characteristics of the wines themselves, creating a cohesive and visually appealing brand image.

The uniqueness of Fattoria il Gambero's visual identity lies in its ability to strike a balance between modernity and tradition. The design captures the essence of the winery's history while infusing it with innovation and contemporary elements. This comprehensive project, led by Laura Ferrario, encompassed the brand, labels, website, and brochure, ensuring a cohesive and impactful communication strategy.

The realization of the design involved the use of different materials and printing techniques to convey contrasting feelings. The wine labels, printed on coated paper, exude cleanliness and modernity, while the embossed paper used for the brochure adds a tactile and historical element. This combination of materials enhances the overall brand experience and reinforces the winery's commitment to quality and craftsmanship.

The Fattoria il Gambero visual identity project, which began in April 2004 and concluded in May 2013, has been widely recognized for its excellence. The design has received the Iron A' Design Award in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category in 2017. This prestigious award acknowledges the design's practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial standards.

By successfully blending contemporary design with its rich history, Fattoria il Gambero has created a visual identity that not only reflects its brand values but also captivates consumers in the competitive wine market.
