Shin-Yuan Fang's "Place Where Belief Is": A Harmonious Blend of Faith and Design

Exploring the Unique Design of a Residential House Inspired by the Concept of Faith

Shin-Yuan Fang's design is inspired by the concept of faith as the center of life. This inspiration is reflected in the design's unique properties, which make it stand out from other residential house designs. The house is built using a variety of materials including iron, wood, cement, and marble, and covers a site area of 170 square meters.

The design is characterized by its multi-diversity functionality, a feature that was influenced by the client's religious beliefs. The open area of the house is filled with diverse furniture, creating several functional areas within the space. This design approach is a nod to the "blank-leaving" concept used in Chinese landscape paintings, which is implemented in the configuration, texture, tone, and functionality of the house.

The project was initiated in November 2012 in Taipei, Taiwan, and was completed in August 2013. The design process was not without its challenges. The house, which is 30 years old and has a confined space, required significant adjustments to the interior space and lighting to accommodate the owner's religious needs.

Despite these challenges, the design was successful in achieving its goal of creating a space that reflects the owner's beliefs. The space varies from person to person, with the ultimate expression being about human beings. Key inspirations for the project were faith, sunlight, and silence, elements that are reflected in the final design.

The "Place Where Belief Is" design has been recognized for its exceptional creativity and innovation. It was awarded the Golden A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2015.
