The GSI Tower is a unique creation that sets itself apart from other designs in its class. Consisting of two vertical bodies that converge at the top through two habitable bridges, the tower forms a grand frame of the surrounding natural landscape. This innovative design allows residents and visitors to immerse themselves in the breathtaking views of the golf course and the turquoise Caribbean Sea.
One of the standout features of the GSI Tower is its ventilated facade, which shields the building from the sun's rays on its western side. The facade is composed of a combination of silkscreened and transparent sandblasted crystals, maximizing the panoramic vistas while maintaining a comfortable interior temperature.
The realization of the GSI Tower was made possible through the implementation of Building Information Modeling (BIM) technology. This advanced system allowed the design team to plan and execute every element of the project with precision and efficiency. The exterior of the tower features lightweight and visually appealing aluminum panels, while the interior boasts a harmonious blend of wood and aluminum.
Standing at a height of 70 meters with 20 levels, the GSI Tower spans an impressive area of 7,500 square meters. Its design not only captivates the eye but also invites interaction. The interior spaces exude dynamism and spatial continuity, enticing visitors to ascend higher and enjoy a coffee while taking in the panoramic views from the terrace.
The GSI Tower, located in Cancun, Mexico, was a project that spanned from 2008 to 2011. The design team, led by architects Sergio Sanz Pont and Victor Sanz Pont, faced the challenge of seamlessly integrating the Caribbean elements with the primary function of the building. The result is an iconic and functional structure that serves as a model for future architectural endeavors in the region.
The GSI Tower has garnered recognition and accolades for its outstanding design. In 2015, it was awarded the Bronze A' Design Award in the Architecture, Building, and Structure Design category. This prestigious award honors designs that demonstrate creativity, resourcefulness, and a commitment to improving the quality of life through art, science, design, and technology.
