IUPY SushiBar & Temakeria

Designing a Fun and Innovative Sushi Bar

Marcelo Lopes brings pop art and innovation to the world of sushi and temaki

Inspired by the vibrant and intense colors of pop art, renowned designer Marcelo Lopes has created a unique and innovative sushi bar and temakeria. The IUPY SushiBar & Temakeria stands out from traditional Japanese restaurants with its fun and light atmosphere, making it a must-visit destination for sushi lovers.

The design of IUPY SushiBar & Temakeria focuses on creating a brand that embodies innovation and interaction. The restaurant is divided into three distinct areas: the counter, the lounge, and the table area. Each area offers a different atmosphere, allowing customers to choose the ambiance that suits them best.

One of the standout features of the design is the innovative furniture, particularly the tables with holes used as support for the sous-plats. This unique design element adds personality and a contemporary touch to the restaurant. The tables are designed to accommodate two, three, four, or eight people, providing flexibility for groups of any size.

Another notable aspect of the design is the use of recycled cardboard panels with famous quotes. These panels not only serve as decoration but also enable interaction with the public. The quotes are also printed on the hashi holders, creating a cohesive brand experience. To minimize environmental impact, the cardboard panels are changed every quarter.

In terms of sustainability, IUPY SushiBar & Temakeria incorporates eco-friendly elements. The restaurant uses bamboo chopsticks, which are 100% sustainable and naturally dyed in the brand's colors. Additionally, the packaging for the chopsticks is made from certified FSC paper, further emphasizing the commitment to sustainability.

The IUPY SushiBar & Temakeria project took three months to complete and is located on the south coast of São Paulo, Brazil. The design challenges were overcome through innovative thinking, attention to detail, and effective communication. The result is a cohesive and integrated brand experience that sets the restaurant apart from its competitors.

This unique branding project has received recognition in the design community, winning the Iron A' Design Award in 2015. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate practicality, innovation, and adherence to professional and industrial requirements. The IUPY SushiBar & Temakeria design stands out for its ability to integrate industry best practices while creating a fulfilling and positive experience for customers.
