Located in Beijing, China, the Lily Nails Salon is a testament to Han's innovative design philosophy. The salon, which spans 66 square meters, is a departure from the traditional over-decorated style typical of such establishments. Instead, Han has created a space that feels like a garden, a place where customers can relax and enjoy their experience.
The salon's design is characterized by a circle of 8mm thick white perforated steel plate that extends from the mall corridor to the inner store, creating a soft and pure curved space. This unique feature, coupled with a strategic seating arrangement, promotes a social atmosphere where customers can communicate happily while having their nails done.
Adding to the salon's unique ambiance is the plant wall that serves as the green background of the whole space. This feature infuses the salon with vitality, further enhancing the relaxed and natural environment that Han aimed to create. The use of LED light film together with the spiral steel plate also results in a soft and well-distributed interior light, contributing to the overall cozy atmosphere.
The realization of this design was made possible through the use of various materials, including perforated steel plate, cement paint, and a vertical green wall. These materials, combined with Han's innovative design approach, have resulted in a salon that is not only aesthetically pleasing but also functional and conducive to a relaxing customer experience.
The Lily Nails Salon project was completed within a six-month period, from January to June 2016. Despite the challenges of breaking away from traditional salon design norms, Han's innovative approach has proven successful, earning the project a Silver A' Design Award. This award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, strong technical characteristics, and remarkable artistic skill.
In conclusion, Wenqiang Han's Lily Nails Salon is a shining example of how innovative design can transform a space and enhance the customer experience. It serves as an inspiration for other designers to think outside the box and challenge traditional norms in their own projects.
