Autumn Delight: A Poetic Interpretation of the Season

A Unique Residential Design by Chiyan Interior Design

Chiyan Interior Design drew inspiration from the concept of autumn to create a space that embodies the season's characteristics. The client's preference for dark colors and an industrial aesthetic served as the foundation for the design. To balance the visual impact of the dark tones, the designer incorporated low saturation and gray materials, while adding bright elements such as plants and warm colors to create a mild yet intense atmosphere. The result is a space that reflects the client's taste for dark colors without feeling depressing.

What sets "Autumn Delight" apart is the designer's use of the connotation of autumn to infuse vibrancy into the space. A large pedestal rock serves as the centerpiece of the TV wall, providing a smooth visual effect with intricate details and textures expressed through the materials. This poetic image of autumn balances the potential gloominess of the visual, creating a space that is both captivating and comforting. Dark brown materials and warm lighting are strategically placed throughout the design to add depth and warmth, while wood veneer, mineral paint, and mirrors showcase the passage of time, giving the space a natural and rugged feel.

The realization of the design involved the use of various building materials, including eco-friendly artificial pedestal rock, mineral paint, and wear-resistant SPC flooring. The designer paid careful attention to detail, using different shades of brightness to define the boundaries between spaces. For example, the living room and dining room feature different flooring, subtly indicating the transition between areas. Additionally, a glass sliding door was installed between the open-plan study room and the living room, creating a sense of separation without compromising natural light.

"Autumn Delight" is a newly completed residential project spanning 125.6 square meters, located on the 17th floor. It features three bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, and an open-plan study room. The designer's meticulous planning and ingenuity ensured that each space was optimally utilized, providing both functionality and comfort. The use of glass and flooring throughout the design creates a sense of connection between spaces, while the open-plan study room offers a private area that meets the client's daily needs.

The design of "Autumn Delight" reflects the beauty and essence of autumn. Through the use of dark wood grain, plant patterns, warm lighting, and other elements, the designer injects vitality into the space. The subdued atmosphere of autumn is captured, striking a balance between warmth and coolness, vitality and stability. The low-saturation yet textured building materials highlight the hidden vitality within the design, while the grayscale color palette evokes a sense of stability and timelessness.

Overcoming the challenge of creating a dark-toned space without it feeling oppressive, the designer skillfully used low-saturation dark colors to brighten the overall ambiance. Warm brown tones were integrated into the design to evoke the poetic scene of an autumn twilight, adding depth and visual interest.

The transition from autumn to winter is captured in the essence of the space, with gray tones symbolizing stability and low saturation providing visual balance.
