Hip Valley Lights: A Revolution in Trade Show Booth Design

Beams Creative's Innovative Approach to Exhibition Space

Beams Creative, a renowned design studio, has redefined the concept of trade show booths with their award-winning project, Hip Valley Lights. This article delves into the inspiration, unique properties, and sustainable realization methods of this innovative design.

The Hip Valley Lights exhibit is a modern evolution of the company's previous gallery-style booths. Inspired by the client's mid-century themed parks, Beams Creative introduced a fresh take on the hitched roof design, accentuated by a large white light to draw attention. The axis was rotated 45 degrees to create a singular path in and out of the front entrance, a departure from the multiple entrances of previous designs.

What sets Hip Valley Lights apart is its meticulous detailing and placement of functional features. The exhibit is marked by streams and strips of light that add intrigue, while the floor remains spacious and clean due to the clever concealment of wires and lights within the ceiling pipes. Brochure stands are ingeniously integrated into the walls, eliminating the need for additional movable furniture.

Beams Creative's commitment to sustainability is evident in the booth's construction. The entire booth can be disassembled into 2-meter length portions, allowing for easy assembly and reuse. The wooden walls interlock, and the roof is made of 1.5m triangular pieces that bolt together. The design team even prepared an Ikea-like installation manual to aid different teams in constructing the exhibit.

The exhibit, housed in a 9m x 9m space with a roof reaching up to 4m tall, was designed to facilitate the client's business needs. It features four separate meeting areas, allowing users to traverse the booth and view the client's past work without disturbing ongoing meetings. This thoughtful design was realized after extensive research and experimentation with different methods of creating barriers without necessarily creating walls.

The main challenge faced by the design team was creating a roof that could be disassembled yet remain structurally sound. The solution was to use a heavier metal so that the roof, although supported by the walls it stood upon, also supported itself at the higher part of the hitches. This innovative approach earned the Hip Valley Lights exhibit a Silver A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2018, a testament to Beams Creative's remarkable expertise and innovation.

With its unique design, sustainable construction methods, and award-winning recognition, the Hip Valley Lights exhibit is a testament to Beams Creative's commitment to pushing the boundaries of design. It serves as an inspiration for future trade show booths and exhibition spaces, proving that functionality, aesthetics, and sustainability can indeed coexist in design.
