Rosefinch Hot Pot: A Poetic Blend of Architecture and Gastronomy

Jason Chan's Award-Winning Restaurant Design Marries Aesthetics with Functionality

Jason Chan, a renowned designer, has redefined the concept of restaurant design with his latest project, "Rosefinch Hot Pot". This unique creation, inspired by the beauty of nature, combines architectural innovation with a poetic narrative to create an immersive dining experience.

The design of Rosefinch Hot Pot is inspired by the quote "When a forest does its best, it gets a mountain with a small mouth, as if there were light" from the Peach Blossom Spring. This quote encapsulates the essence of the design, which aims to create a private, flawless land that resonates with the ideal and longing for the land in everyone's heart. The restaurant, located in Ase mall, tells a story of inspiring space through its design.

What sets Rosefinch Hot Pot apart from other restaurant designs is its focus on providing a rich and comprehensive life emotional experience to customers. This is achieved through strategic spatial planning, design elements, site layout, and atmosphere creation. The reception area at the main entrance continues the flowing form of the mountain, creating an interaction between the lights and the volume that is reminiscent of the cloud surrounding the mountainside in the morning.

The restaurant's 50-meter-long facade is spacious and elegant, resembling endless hills rising in the mall. The horizontal and vertical architectural structure system breaks through the traditional concept of a "box" building. The arc characteristic also gives the space lengthwise extension in the longitudinal direction, freeing the space from the limitation of the plane shape.

The functional areas of the restaurant include the entrance reception area, waiting area, water bar & cashier area, scattered area, seasoning area, private room area, storage, and kitchen. The main materials used are black titanium stainless steel, mirror surface water ripple stainless steel, barbed wire, art paint, terrazzo, marble, jade, colored painted glass, chanhong glass, brass, wood floor, and leather.

The design project, which began in March 2020 in Shanghai and finished in August 2020, was exhibited in Shanghai in August 2020. The project posed several challenges, including the combination of design language and commercial space, and interpreting the seemingly calm and rational architectural design concept with poetic expression. However, these challenges were successfully overcome, resulting in a design that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing.

The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that illustrate outstanding expertise and innovation. These designs, admired for their strong technical characteristics and splendid artistic skill, showcase a remarkable level of excellence and introduce positive feelings, amazement, and wonder.
