Creating a Unique Brand Identity for a Dental Clinic

Ogliari Dental Clinic aims to change the perception of dentistry by creating a friendly and joyful brand identity. Designed by Marcelo Kimura, this corporate identity project focuses on using symbols based on facial expressions to communicate happiness, reliability, and safety.

The teeth are not just tools for chewing; they are also a reflection of our emotions. Our face is responsible for expressing our feelings, and our teeth play a significant role in this process. Ogliari Dental Clinic understands that people visit the dentist not only to treat their teeth but also to gain confidence in expressing themselves without fear of judgment. With this understanding, the clinic's brand identity was designed to create a more enjoyable language that could approach people instead of pushing them away.

The main challenge was to create a friendly identity that could contrast negative characteristics with personality and joy. The design team, led by Marcelo Kimura, wanted to differentiate Ogliari Dental Clinic from the common clichés associated with dental clinics. The result is a brand that is warm and non-intimidating, communicating happiness and safety.

The unique feature of this design lies in the use of symbols based on facial expressions. By using smiles and laughs as the foundation, Ogliari Dental Clinic creates a system of symbols that can be used in various applications, such as wallpapers and fabric prints. This dynamic project allows for symbolic expressions without losing its identity or clarity.

The realization of this design involved a thorough briefing with the client, concept panels, and numerous sketches. The design team utilized software such as Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, Typekit, and a Wacom Tablet to bring the vision to life. The brand palette consists of Pantone 2756 C, Pantone 326 C, and Pantone 326 C, creating a vibrant and inviting visual identity.

Ogliari Dental Clinic's brand identity project took approximately three months to complete, from Parana to Rio in Brazil. The design team conducted research on the cultural phenomenon of fearing the dentist, which is still prevalent in society. However, with advancements in technology, dental procedures are becoming more enjoyable and painless. Ogliari Dental Clinic aims to change the perception of dentistry and make dental visits a positive experience.

This innovative design has been recognized for its excellence and creativity. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2018 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award acknowledges well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. Ogliari Dental Clinic's brand identity stands out for its integration of industry best practices, competent technical characteristics, and its contribution to a better world.
