YM Coffee Project: A Welcoming and Cozy Brand Identity

Creating a Unique and Inviting Visual Identity for YM Coffee Project

The YM Coffee Project's brand identity, designed by BumSeok Hong of studio Lad, captures the essence of the project in a mark that is welcoming, cozy, and reminiscent of home. The design combines the overlapping alphabet YM with the shape of a house, symbolizing open doors and a warm welcome.

The YM Coffee Project stands out with its unique brand identity, which sets it apart from other coffee brands. The identity not only captures the name YM but also reflects the mood and atmosphere of the project. The mark evokes a sense of comfort and coziness, like being at home.

The design is not limited to visual elements alone. To create a truly inviting and warm atmosphere, the designer carefully selected materials such as paper, linen, wood, and plants. These eco-friendly materials, with their natural colors, contribute to the overall cozy ambiance of the brand.

One of the key elements of the brand identity is the use of orange as a highlight color. This vibrant color stands out among the natural tones of oakwood, linen, and paper, adding a touch of liveliness to the brand's color system.

The YM Coffee Project is an ongoing endeavor, with YM Coffee House and YM Roasting Factory already established. The brand identity has been designed to encompass the entire project, including future elements such as the upcoming YM Espresso Bar.

BumSeok Hong, the creative director and designer behind the YM Coffee Project, dedicated five months to researching the coffee industry in Korea. By studying various coffee brands, he identified the key factors that make a brand successful, such as expertise and recognizable shapes or colors. This research informed the shape and color choices for the YM Coffee Project's brand identity.

One of the challenges faced during the design process was creating a cohesive system that could be applied to both existing and future projects. To maintain consistency, the designer developed basic elements that could be adapted for the visual identity of other projects within the YM Coffee Project.

The YM Coffee Project's brand identity successfully captures the essence of the project, combining expertise in coffee with a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The design reflects the alignment of the project and sets it apart from other coffee brands.
