The unique feature of Auspicious lies in its axial symmetric form development. The spatial functions are planned starting from the axis, with the front half serving as the public space and the rear half as the private area. This design approach ensures a seamless flow throughout the house, creating a harmonious and balanced environment.
The lighting design in Auspicious is a fusion of direct and indirect illuminations, resulting in a smooth and gentle effect. The use of wooden flooring with a Herringbone pattern arrangement adds exquisite elegance to the space, acting as a medium between furniture conversations. The intersections of the space are framed with stone materials, providing a smooth passage for wheelchair users.
The living room of Auspicious features a main wall adorned with a precisely arranged natural stone display, reminiscent of gentle and elegant ink paintings. The dining room ceiling is painted with white glossy paint, softening the light and enlarging the sense of space. A light food area is also incorporated in the kitchen, offering a versatile dining experience.
In the master bedroom's private bathroom, a marvelous upside-down gourd-shaped mirror with titanium accents is illuminated to create a profound and wonderful visual experience. The seamless connection between different materials, as smooth as female skin, is a testament to the high accuracy of design and use of materials in this project.
Auspicious is a 333 square meter residential house located in Taichung City, Taiwan. The project was completed in April 2017 by Mick Space Interior Design Co., Ltd. The design team, including Lin Li-Ching and Chiu Chih-Hao, successfully overcame creative, technical, and research challenges to bring this unique and symbolic design to life.
Auspicious has been recognized for its outstanding design and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2019. This award acknowledges the incorporation of best practices in art, science, design, and technology, contributing to quality of life improvements and making the world a better place.
