This residential house, designed by Jia-Ru Chen, showcases the beauty of smoothness through its simple yet non-monotonous design. With a square layout spanning 83 square meters, the house features a living room, dining room, kitchen, reading area, and three bedrooms including the master bedroom.
The dining room, adjacent to the entrance hallway, is adorned with a wooden dining table and same-colored wooden cabinets. The T-shaped dining table arrangement creates a seamless transition between the dining and kitchen area. The addition of white metallic lights adds a touch of warmth and sophistication, elevating the overall atmosphere of the space.
The public area of the house is characterized by a pure white color tone, while the wooden tone extends from the dining room to the living room and study, creating a harmonious and serene environment. The television wall is adorned with ceramic white artificial stone patterned bricks and a solid wood cabinet, with passageways on both sides to maintain an open and spacious feel. The rear side of the television wall serves as a bookshelf for the reading space, providing a peaceful corner for relaxation and reflection.
The master bedroom, secondary bedroom, and bathroom are located at the rear-end of the house, ensuring privacy and tranquility. The overall circulation of the house is smooth, allowing for versatile functions and a seamless flow between different areas.
This project was completed in July 2017 in Taoyuan City, Taiwan. The design team, led by Jia-Ru Chen, overcame various creative and technical challenges to bring this vision to life. The central island design, for instance, required careful consideration of lighting, resulting in the use of integrated lighting equipment on the ceiling to create a taller and broader visual effect. The study room, with its interlocked wall surface design and stylish iron pieces, adds a touch of elegance to the facade.
The Beauty of Smoothness residential house is a testament to Jia-Ru Chen's commitment to creating unique and functional spaces. Its recognition in the A' Design Award, where it received the Iron Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category, further highlights its well-designed, practical, and innovative qualities. This award is a testament to the design's ability to meet professional and industrial requirements, while also contributing to a better world through its integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
