Deloitte Taiwan: A Green House in the Sky

Office Building Design by Kathy Chien Transforms Work Experience

Deloitte Taiwan's new office building, designed by Kathy Chien, redefines the traditional office atmosphere with its innovative design and green philosophy. The design, inspired by the concept of "Work Happy, Work Anywhere", incorporates surprising elements and unique features that make it stand out.

The design of the office building is a reflection of Deloitte's brand image. The brand's "Green Dot" metaphor is subtly embedded in the space, symbolizing "harmony and cohesion". The reception hall features a cylindrical design that echoes the corporate image. The main visual wall, outlined by moss, not only extends the image of a "Green House", but also absorbs moisture and regulates air.

The staff dining area is designed with wood, industrial lightings, and simplified stripe furniture. The use of natural materials like stone, wood, and a planting wall creates a natural tone in the office. The rock wall in the corridor dialogues with the gray-scale textured tiles on the floor, creating a natural atmosphere. The contrast of deep and shallow color scales makes the space simple but not monotonous, making the work mood more relaxed.

The office building, which spans 8 floors and nearly 23100 square meters, utilizes electrified glass to reduce heat and lower the utilization rate of air conditioning, achieving energy saving and carbon reduction. The glass wall also exploits natural light efficiently and integrates the concept of "Green House" in the interior space.

The design process, which started in July 2017, took 8 months of designing and the rest of the time to construct the space. The building is located in Taipei City. The design was inspired by the small green dot at the end of the Deloitte logo, which means "Green House". This idea was extended to the corporate purpose of providing sustainable operation for institutions. The design team adhered to this core concept and used the configuration of shape, material, and tone to create a green, vibrant, and genuinely fun office space.

Despite the challenges of being located in a high-floors building and the need to pass a fire safety evacuation performance test, the design team was able to successfully dismantle the partition, allowing the space to get more vision and light. The design was awarded Silver in A' Interior Space, Retail and Exhibition Design Award in 2019. The copyrights of the design belong to Kathy Chien, and all photo credits belong to INKDESIGN Space.
