Barong, a lion-like creature and character in the mythology of Bali, Indonesia, has inspired a stunning piece of jewelry known as the Balinese Barong ring. Designed by Andrew Lam, this ring captures the essence of Balinese culture and showcases its unique features.
The Barong is not only a mythical creature but also the king of the spirits and the leader of the hosts of good. It is the enemy of Rangda, the demon queen and mother of all spirit guardians in Balinese mythology. The Barong is a symbol of protection and represents the fight between good and evil.
The Balinese Barong ring is a testament to the craftsmanship and attention to detail. Digitally sculptured and jewelry-quality 3D printed in wax, it is then traditionally cast in precious metals. The ring is available in two finishes: oxidized sterling silver or 18k yellow gold with a white gold base. The eyes of the Barong are adorned with vibrant rubies, adding a touch of color and luxury.
Measuring approximately 22mm in height, 22mm in width, and 25mm in depth, the Balinese Barong ring is a statement piece that embodies the rich cultural heritage of Bali.
Designing the Balinese Barong ring presented its own set of challenges. The goal was to incorporate all the culturally rich details while ensuring the comfort of wearing. The result is a stunning piece of jewelry that not only showcases the intricate details of the Barong but also provides a comfortable fit for everyday wear.
The Balinese Barong ring is a true work of art that pays homage to the Balinese culture and mythology. It is a unique piece that allows individuals to carry a piece of Bali with them wherever they go.
