The inspiration for this project came from the need to provide a learning experience tailored to the digital native generation, who process visual objects and information more quickly than their predecessors. The result is an interactive textbook that uses various tools and infographics to express mathematical concepts in a way that enhances focus and understanding.
What sets this textbook apart from conventional ones is its design for a good user experience. The binding of the book allows students to reconfigure learning materials for different curricula and conveniently store additional materials. The cover is designed to be manipulated by the students, adding an extra layer of interactivity.
The textbook was designed with a focus on user experience research. The page layout considers the user's line of sight, and colors and images are used systematically. Students can insert film or attach magnets to the pages, creating a hands-on learning experience. The design team, which included Art Director Sanghyun An and Designers Minyoung Lee and Seonmi Seo, worked diligently to balance fun and learning effectiveness.
The project was started in June 2018 and completed in September 2019 in Seoul, Korea. It was a challenging endeavor that required thorough image planning and numerous design attempts and reviews to achieve the perfect harmony of content and design. The result is a textbook that allows students to learn mathematical concepts as if they were playing, thereby increasing the effectiveness of learning.
"I Really Like Math" has been recognized for its innovative approach to education.
