Unveiling the PWPW 2016 Calendar: A Masterpiece of Design and Innovation

Designers Izabela Jurczyk & Małgorzata Boszulak Create a Unique Blend of Art and Security

In a world where calendars are often overlooked, the PWPW 2016 calendar stands out as a testament to the power of design and innovation. Created by Izabela Jurczyk & Małgorata Boszulak, this 12-page wall calendar showcases the main products of Polish Security Printing Works (PWPW) in an original and captivating manner.

The PWPW 2016 calendar is more than just a tool for tracking dates. It is a promotional tool that highlights the exceptional products of PWPW in a unique and unusual way. The calendar is made on a variety of decorative papers, printed and ornamented in various techniques, including duplex printing. Two of the pages are made on a unique paper from the original PWPW production of security paper protected with a watermark, showcasing the company's commitment to security and innovation.

What sets this calendar apart from others is the use of graphic design to present PWPW's products. From postal stamps and credit cards with a chip to IT systems and solutions, the calendar showcases the uniqueness of security paper and products manufactured in the factory and the security features used in them. This approach not only highlights the company's products but also educates the audience about protected documents and their security features in an original and unexpected way.

The calendar was created using a variety of papers and printing techniques. The papers used include Magnum sattin 300g, Golden Star 160g, Ispira Mistero 250g, paper with water mark, Ispira Grigio 250g, Coctail Curacao 420g, BIO TOP 160g and 250g, Symbol Tatami Ivory 250g, Materica Clay 250g. The printing techniques used include offset cmyk and Pantone, Hot foil stamping, die cutting, silk screen printing, and blind embossing. The dimensions of the calendar when closed are 480 mm x 225 mm, and when open are 480 mm x 450 mm.

Creating the calendar presented a number of challenges. One of the main challenges was using original paper with a watermark used to manufacture security and special types of paper. The graphic design had to cover all of it with printing, not leaving any area unprinted as it could be used by forgers. At the same time, it needed to preserve its exceptional beauty. To utilize all the graphic printing, a mix of printing techniques was used, including offset, Hot foil stamping, die cutting, silk screen printing, blind embossing, lamination, perforation, and spot varnish.

The PWPW 2016 calendar is a testament to the power of design and innovation. It is a unique blend of art and security, showcasing the company's products in an original and captivating manner. It is a great visiting card of PWPW and confirms the professionalism of Studio Design. The calendar was awarded Golden in A' Graphics, Illustration and Visual Communication Design Award in 2016, a testament to its design excellence and innovation.
