Mitsubishi eK Space Custom / eK Space: A Brochure with a Difference

E-graphics communications Reinvents the Automobile Brochure

In a world where digital media reigns supreme, E-graphics communications has taken a different approach to marketing Mitsubishi's eK Space Custom and eK Space. This article explores the unique properties and innovative design of the brochure that has won the prestigious Silver A' Design Award.

The brochure, created by E-graphics communications, is designed to clearly and impressively communicate the unique characteristics of the two vehicles. The eK Space Custom boasts a dynamic exterior design, while the eK Space is designed to be more approachable. The brochure uses different inspirational images to highlight these characteristics - a cool, stylish townscape for the eK Space Custom and fun, graphical images for the eK Space.

What sets this brochure apart is its use of 3D Computer Graphics (3DCG) to create images of the vehicle body and interior. The high-quality images are nearly indistinguishable from the real vehicles, thanks to the effective use of background reflections and glare. The brochure also uses QR codes to provide supplementary information through videos, making the best use of the limited number of pages.

The brochure is A4 size with 54 pages and is saddle-stitched. In keeping with environmental considerations, it uses Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) approved paper, made from thinned wood. The design team includes Creative Director Yoshitaka Nonaka, Art Director Eriko Takahashi, Copywriter Mayu Oonishi, and 3DCG by EGC D-PT/CG Creative.

In Japan, automobile brochures are considered an incentive item for potential buyers, conveying both emotional and functional qualities. The brochure allows the new owner to obsess over his or her purchase and fantasize about driving it, while waiting for the car to be delivered. This innovative approach to brochure design has been recognized with the Silver A' Design Award in 2017, a testament to the team's creativity and technical expertise.

The brochure was released in Japan in December 2016, coinciding with the launch of the Mitsubishi eK Space Custom and eK Space. It will be used until the model gets updated. The challenge for the design team was to clearly differentiate the two grades with totally different characteristics, a goal they achieved through special pagination and the use of different inspirational images.

In conclusion, E-graphics communications has successfully reinvented the automobile brochure, using innovative design techniques and technologies to communicate the unique characteristics of the Mitsubishi eK Space Custom and eK Space. The brochure not only serves as a marketing tool but also as an object of desire for potential buyers, enhancing their anticipation and excitement about their new purchase.
