The City Rhythm poster serves as a reminder for people to protect birds and their habitats. In today's urbanized world, the process of urbanization has left many small animals, including birds, without a place to call home. The poster depicts a row of homeless birds sitting on an electric wire, forming a visual representation of the city's melody. This melody, however, is not one we wish to hear.
Combining photography and computer software processing, Gao Pin brings her vision to life. The poster measures 100mm x 70mm, making it suitable for various public spaces. Its purpose is to serve as a warning to humans, urging them to take effective measures to protect birds and their habitats.
The City Rhythm poster can be displayed in a wide range of public environments, effectively communicating its message to passersby. By sharing the blue sky with birds, Gao Pin hopes to remind humanity of the birds' contribution to our lives and the need to preserve their living spaces.
The creation of this work presented several challenges. Gao Pin relied on photography and image synthesis technology, collecting a large number of bird photos taken in the city. Through careful selection and various synthetic methods, she synthesized the images to create a powerful visual representation. The result is a thought-provoking poster that encourages viewers to take action.
City Rhythm was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2017 in the Graphics, Illustration, and Visual Communication Design category. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The poster's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world, evoking fulfillment and positive feelings.
