Triple O: A Timepiece Revolution

The Triple O watch, a collaboration with a Chinese watch company, stands out for its unique movement, time readings, crown mechanism, and modeling design. The planetary gear system, comprising three planet gears, gives the watch its distinctive time-reading feature. The separation of the hour and minute readings enhances recognition and readability. The crown mechanism, inspired by the structure of a ball pen, ensures ease of operation. The overall design, inspired by the Lelord triangle, adds a touch of elegance and sophistication.

The creation of the Triple O was a challenging process. The team had to undergo numerous tests and iterations before finalizing the design. The prototype was successfully manufactured in May 2017. However, the delicate nature of the watch and the complexity of its structure posed challenges for mass production. The watch case is made of stainless steel with a brushed surface treatment, and the glass is sapphire crystal. The watchstrap is crafted from cow leather.

The watch measures 47.2mm in length, 33.4mm in width, and 24.2mm in height. The design team also included a unique interaction feature. The rotation of the hour and minute wheels increases the interaction while reading. By pressing the button of the crown, the whole triangle crown pops out for operation, and can be pressed back afterward. The innovative hand design indicates the hour and minute simultaneously.

The Triple O project was launched in June 2016 and took a year to complete. The design was finished in April 2017, and production began in June 2017 in Tianjin, China. The watch was exhibited at the library of Tianjin University from May 27, 2017. The project involved extensive research and collaboration with the watch company and manufacturing factories to meet high requirements.

The Triple O watch design has been recognized for its innovation and excellence. It was awarded Silver in the A' Jewelry, Eyewear, and Watch Design Award in 2018. This prestigious award is given to designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation, strong technical characteristics, and remarkable artistic skill. The Triple O watch certainly fits this description, introducing positive feelings, amazement, and wonder to the world of horology.
