The inspiration for the design of the Gallery Abode Apartment came directly from the client's taste and preferences. The owner, who works in the media industry, wanted a home that would inspire him. The design team at Artistroom Pte Ltd took this vision and created a space that not only reflects the owner's personality but also provides a comfortable and functional living environment.
One of the unique features of this design is the open-concept study. The walls of the second bedroom were removed to make way for a spacious study area. Custom-made wall-to-wall display shelving with slim, linear metal frames adds a touch of sophistication to the space, creating a gallery-like atmosphere.
The master bedroom was also transformed to maximize space and functionality. The walls were removed and rebuilt to make way for a walk-in wardrobe and additional circulation space around the main living area. This redesign not only enhances the overall flow of the apartment but also provides ample storage for the owner's belongings.
The choice of materials plays a crucial role in the overall aesthetic of the Gallery Abode Apartment. Black concrete screed flooring, white walls, and clean-cut built-in structures form the foundation of this gallery-like home. The use of these materials creates a sleek and contemporary backdrop for the owner's eclectic collection of artworks and artifacts.
To achieve the desired look, the design team at Artistroom Pte Ltd carefully selected a sophisticated palette of materials and tones. Custom black concrete screed was chosen for the floors, while grey oak laminates were used for the cabinetry. Grey marble was selected for the kitchen backsplash, providing a luxurious touch. The combination of these materials creates a harmonious and visually appealing space.
Lighting also plays a crucial role in the design of the Gallery Abode Apartment. Black track lights throughout the space emphasize the linearity of the design while adding to the art gallery-like ambiance. The owner personally selected the furnishings, ensuring that their proportions fit the spaces perfectly and complement the overall design.
The Gallery Abode Apartment is not only visually stunning but also highly functional. The layout was carefully reconfigured to create an open plan that allows for seamless flow between the study area, living room, dining area, and kitchen. The removal of non-load-bearing walls and the conversion of one bedroom into a study room/library with a walk-in wardrobe further enhance the functionality of the space.
The Gallery Abode Apartment, located in Everton Park, Singapore, is a testament to the creativity and expertise of the design team at Artistroom Pte Ltd. The project, which started in January 2015 and finished in July 2015, showcases the transformation of a typical three-room government housing apartment into a sophisticated and artistic haven.
The Gallery Abode Apartment has received recognition for its outstanding design. It was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2019 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award is given to designs that meet professional and industrial requirements, integrating industry best practices and competent technical characteristics.
The Gallery Abode Apartment is a true masterpiece that combines art, design, and functionality. It is a testament to the client's vision and the expertise of the design team at Artistroom Pte Ltd. With its unique features, carefully selected materials, and impeccable attention to detail, this apartment is a true reflection of the owner's personality and style.
