The Cave: A Unique and Functional Interior Design

Combining Art and Life in a Single-Story Residential Plan

The Cave, designed by Kiaro Interior L.T.D, draws inspiration from the paintings of Zao Wou-Ki, creating a space that combines art with life. With a focus on high-quality and customized comfort, this interior design project showcases a keen sense of art, expertise in materials science, exquisite craftsmanship, and advanced digital technologies.

This new single-story residential plan, spanning approximately 165 square meters, is designed to cater to the needs of a simple household that values the quality of life and functional details. The distribution of the space is user-friendly and accurate, making optimal use of the high-floor advantage with continuous large windows that flood the interiors with natural light.

The Cave stands out with its unique properties and strengths. The design takes into consideration the client's desire for a comfortable lifestyle, ensuring that the space is not only visually appealing but also functional for hosting parties and gatherings. The attention to detail and familiarity with materials science result in a space that exudes elegance and sophistication.

The realization of The Cave is a testament to the designer's expertise and creativity. The design team carefully considered the structural challenges, such as a large beam passing through the center of the public area. By using classic black and white lines with contrasting thicknesses and stacking, they created partitioned ceiling blocks that not only address the beam but also add visual interest to the space.

With a focus on practicality, comfort, texture, and design taste, The Cave features a well-defined primary flow and areas of activity. The use of stone screens and the careful selection of marble and wooden floors create boundaries and define different zones within the space.

The interaction within The Cave is carefully curated to enhance the overall experience. From the large mirror in the entryway that serves both functional and aesthetic purposes to the modular and free combinable setup in the living room, every element is thoughtfully designed to cater to the homeowner's needs and preferences.

The Cave was completed in December 2021 in Taipei City, Taiwan. Throughout the design process, the team prioritized the configuration of soft furnishings, lamps, carpets, and artwork, recognizing their importance in achieving a high degree of completion for the project. The result is a space that seamlessly integrates art, functionality, and comfort.

The Cave has been recognized for its excellence and creativity, receiving the Bronze A' Design Award in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category in 2023. This prestigious award acknowledges the outstanding and ingenious design that authentically combines experience and resourcefulness. The design showcases strong technical and creative skills, contributing to improvements in quality of life and making the world a better place.
